Level 6 Camp-Karoonda

Our Level 6s experience a five day farm stay at Karoonda Park in Gelantipy. Karoonda Park offers a full range of outdoor adventure and farm experiences. The School Camp Programs were established in 1976. Their extensive range of both on-camp and expedition style activities are completely operated “in-house” by their dedicated Outdoor Education Coordinator who is a qualified Teacher and Outdoor Educator and instructs in a full range outdoor pursuits.
Karoonda Park is dedicated to providing a formative experience in the outdoors that challenges the student in a holistic sense and is sensitive to each individuals comfort zones and competence.  They believe it is important to provide challenge to facilitate personal growth and self-understanding. However they are sensitive to what each student is comfortable with and will not put them in situations that are unduly uncomfortable for them in an emotional or physical sense.
It is important to provide experiential educational experiences that are unobtainable in the classroom.

  • This is facilitated by incorporating aspects of the natural environment in our local area. Eg, trips to the Snowy River and rafting at Willis, 12m abseiling on a natural rock, trail riding though the bush and abseiling at a natural cliff.
  • By creating circumstances and situations where interaction within the group is encouraged, eg camping together, yabbing, initiatives course and participation in activities
  • Creating a “safe” environment in a physical, mental and emotional sense where individuals are empowered to realize their potential.
  • Testing personal boundaries eg, making it over the edge on the abseiling cliff while grappling with a fear of heights, two 200m flying foxes, low ropes course, riding a horse, or even camping in a tent for the first time.
